چکیده

We describe a dual-color plasmonic lens suitable for focusing two femtosecond surface plasmon polariton wavefronts to a common focal spot. We show that the overlapping evanescent fields, which are confined to (sub-) micrometer dimensions, form a surface-selective excitation volume for four-wave mixing (FWM) experiments. We demonstrate that stable and virtually background-free FWM signals from single nano-objects placed in the plasmonic focus can be generated. The plasmonic focal spot constitutes a precisely controlled excitation source for surface-selective nonlinear spectroscopic measurements. VC 2012 American Institute of Physics. Dual-band, Dynamically Tunable Plasmonic Metamaterial Absorbers Based on Graphene for Terahertz Frequencies

In this paper, a compact plasmonic metamaterial absorber for terahertz frequencies is proposed and simulated. The absorber is based on metamaterial graphene structures, and benefits from dynamically controllable properties of graphene. Through patterning graphene layers, plasmonic resonances are tailored to provide a dual band as well as an improved bandwidth absorption. Unit cell of the design...

Simulation of Surface Plasmon Excitation in a Plasmonic Nano-Wire Using Surface Integral Equations

In this paper, scattering of a plane and monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nano-wire is simulated using surface integral equations. First, integral equationsgoverning unknown fields on the surface is obtained based on Stratton-Cho surface integral equations. Then, the interaction of the wave with a non-plasmonic as well as a palsmonic nano-wire is considered. It is shown that in scatter...

Tunable Plasmonic Nanoparticles Based on Prolate Spheroids

Metallic nanoparticles can exhibit very large optical extinction in the visible spectrum due to localized surface plasmon resonance. Spherical plasmonic nanoparticles have been the subject of numerous studies in recent years due to the fact that the scattering response of spheres can be analytically evaluated using Mie theory. However a major disadvantage of metallic spherical nanoparticles is ...

Coherent Fano resonances in a plasmonic nanocluster enhance optical four-wave mixing.

Plasmonic nanoclusters, an ordered assembly of coupled metallic nanoparticles, support unique spectral features known as Fano resonances due to the coupling between their subradiant and superradiant plasmon modes. Within the Fano resonance, absorption is significantly enhanced, giving rise to highly localized, intense near fields with the potential to enhance nonlinear optical processes. Here, ...

Selective detection of radicals and ions in a slit-jet discharge by degenerate and two-color four-wave mixing.

Degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) was used to record the spectra of charged and neutral carbon-containing radicals generated in a pulsed discharge source within a supersonic slit-jet expansion. Detection limits of approximately 10(9) molecules cm(-3) are achieved. The DFWM method allows a selective molecular detection by varying the discharge timings. Increased spectral selectivity is obtained...
